A new SQL Server backup solution has been developed by Cortex I.T. Labs (developers of BackupAssist) and it is said to be unique.

The product apparently provides not only disaster recovery of critical data, but complete protection from the start.

Jason Schultz, BackupAssist senior developer explains, "We designed our software to be simple enough that a junior technician could configure and maintain the backup process without having to know in-depth SQL and database administration."

"Also, we wanted to make the restore procedure as automated and straightforward as possible, so anyone can fully restore individual databases or even an entire SQL Server in just a few clicks of the mouse," he added.

According to Cortex I.T. Labs,

Previously, the process of adequately protecting an SQL Server was thought of as tedious and confusing by many system administrators. Backups were normally done by manually writing scripts or scheduling tasks, and the process of restoring an SQL Server was cumbersome, requiring a detailed set of instructions from Microsoft.

Before BackupAssist, this level of protection was only available in enterprise level backup software costing thousands of dollars. Now small and medium businesses can enjoy enterprise level database protection at a fraction of the cost.

"Our new solution enables businesses to achieve near-continuous backups of their databases through a combination of full and transaction-log backups, all configured through a simple, user-friendly interface." said Schultz.

Cortex's SQL backup product is available as an optional add-on for BackupAssist and retails for US $129. More details can be found at BackupAssist.com.
